200MW! Chongqing’s largest mountain photovoltaic project is fully connected to the grid for power generation Jan 09, 2024
On December 29, the largest installed mountain photovoltaic project in Chongqing, the Three Gorges Energy Wushan County Sanxi Liangping Phase II 200MW agricultural (forest) photovoltaic complementary power generation project, achieved full-capacity grid-connected power generation.   The project involves more than 6,000 acres of land in more than 10 villages. The terrain in the site is steep, and the weather in the high mountains of Wushan is rainy and foggy, which brings considerable challenges to construction, transportation, safety, and management. Three Gorges Energy Wushan County Sanxi Liangping Phase II 200 MW Agricultural (Forestry) Photovoltaic Complementary Power Generation Project started construction on April 1, 2023. The first batch of 80 MW grid connection was completed on October 30, and the entire project was completed on December 29. The installed capacity is 200 MW connected to the grid. The average annual power generation of this photovoltaic power station in the next 25 years is about 170 million kilowatt-hours. It can save 62,900 tons of standard coal every year and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 152,400 tons, achieving a win-win economic and ecological benefit. Chongqing is located in southwest China, with average sunshine hours of 1,000 to 1,400 hours and average precipitation of 1,000 to 1,350 mm. It belongs to one of the five categories of solar energy resource areas in my country. Chongqing’s solar energy resources have more sunshine than normal. The number of sunshine hours per month in various parts of the city is 160 to 334 hours, and the sunshine percentage is 39.6% to 82.4%. Compared with the same period in previous years, the number of sunshine hours is 2 to 6 hours longer, and the lighting conditions are better in most areas. Chongqing, known as a mountain city, lags far behind other provinces in the use of solar energy resources. Due to its unique geographical location, it is low in the middle and high on all sides. Most areas are surrounded by mountains and are surrounded by clouds and mist all year round. Compared with other areas, if Chongqing installs photovoltaic power stations, its power generation efficiency will only be 50%, and the power generation capacity will be large. Due to the discount, Chongqing's photovoltaic installed market has been stagnant. Chongqing has a single energy structure and cannot meet its own energy supply, relying on surrounding provinces to supply electricity. The high temperature in summer is also the peak period of electricity consumption in Chongqing. The large-scale increase in electricity load directly leads to insufficient power supply and power outages in various regions, seriously affecting residents' lives and enterprise production. Chongqing urgently needs to install photovoltaic power stations and other renewable energy power stations to improve this situation. These green power systems can not only increase additional power generation, but al...

  • Egypt signs 10GW solar project with Chinese company!
Egypt signs 10GW solar project with Chinese company! Jan 03, 2024
Recently, Egypt signed a memorandum of understanding with a Chinese company. The two parties will jointly develop a large-scale solar project with a scale of 10GW, aiming to increase the renewable energy capacity of the most populous Arab country and reduce its dependence on fossil fuels. The agreement was signed by Egypt's New and Renewable Energy Authority, Egypt Electricity Holding Company and China Electric Power Equipment Co., Ltd. in the presence of Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly. "This agreement is part of a strategy to increase renewable energy capacity and limit the use of fossil fuels, in line with Egypt's national sustainable development plan," the Egyptian cabinet said in a statement. After the project is completed, it is expected to produce 29,784GWh of clean energy every year and reduce 14 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions. The statement added that the project is a grid dedicated to renewable energy projects as part of Egypt's "Green Corridor" initiative. Once completed, it will save US$1 billion in natural gas costs annually. Mohamed Shaker, Egypt's Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, said at the signing ceremony: "Egypt has adopted an ambitious plan to upgrade the power industry in different areas, including maximizing the use of renewable energy and encouraging foreign and local private sector investment. " Earlier in 2023, Mohamed Shaker said that Egypt's wind power capacity could reach 350GW and solar power capacity could reach 650GW. Egypt claims that its total renewable energy potential reaches 1TW, which is huge news for Egypt’s renewable energy sector. Realizing this potential, however, is another matter entirely, especially given Egypt’s laggard in the renewable energy sector to date. Egypt is one of the largest photovoltaic markets in Africa, with abundant sunlight resources and vast land. In recent years, the Egyptian government has been actively promoting the development of the solar photovoltaic industry. Egypt's goal is for renewable energy to account for 42% of the country's total electricity demand by 2030, and for renewable energy to account for 60% of the country's total power generation by 2040.

  • Global Household Savings Market Analysis: Germany, Italy, the United States, Japan, Australia, and China lead the way
Global Household Savings Market Analysis: Germany, Italy, the United States, Japan, Australia, and China lead the way Dec 06, 2023
In recent years, the global household battery energy storage market has developed rapidly. Its main developments are concentrated in several leading markets including Germany, Italy, Japan, the United States and Australia. Germany Germany is the earliest large-scale household battery market. In May 2013, the German government launched a subsidy program administered by KfW that provides subsidies for energy storage systems installed alongside new or existing solar systems under 30kW. This has propelled Germany into the world's largest market for residential solar and batteries, with installation rates remaining stable even as subsidies have been reduced year by year. In 2022, the installation rate of rooftop solar cells will exceed 75%, one of the highest installation rates in the world. Subsidies have supported the market's growth for more than a decade, but they have slowly shrunk and are no longer the main driver. Instead, the market is now driven by customers committed to increasing their own on-site solar consumption, as they can save more than €0.30 per kilowatt-hour by purchasing electricity from the grid, while exporting solar power for less than 0.30 euros per kilowatt-hour. 0.05 euros. Italy In 2022, Italy will become the second largest market, accounting for more than 20% of the global new market in 2021 and 2022. In 2022, the adoption rate of rooftop solar cells is 77%, up from 11% in 2018. This follows the launch of Italy's extremely generous "Super Bonus" subsidy program in 2020, which covers 110% of all home energy improvement-related costs. After the program launched in 2020, adoption rates increased dramatically. But after the "super bonus" program was scaled back in early 2023, adoption rates suddenly dropped. Unlike Germany, the Italian government quickly withdrew this support program, and the market was unable to sustain growth without the program. BNEF expects adoption rates to remain moderate. The 50% state tax rebate scheme remains in place, which had already given a boost to a number of projects across Italy before the "super bonus" scheme was introduced. Consumers also receive regional subsidies. For example, in Lombardy, solar-battery products enjoy a 50% tax rebate starting from 2016. China China's household battery market has struggled to take off due to China's relatively low electricity rates and limited concerns about energy supply resilience (low blackout rates). In the first half of 2023, the average electricity price for Chinese households was less than 0.530 yuan ($0.076)/kWh, which is approximately equivalent to 50% of the average U.S. household electricity price and 15% of the German household electricity price. Due to cross-subsidies from industrial and commercial end-users, household electricity prices in China are artificially low. Low electricity prices make consumer energy storage projects economically unattractive. For China's electricity users, the losses caused by grid outages are also less ...

Germany, new photovoltaic capacity will reach 13GW in 2023 Nov 20, 2023
Recently, the German Engineering Association VDI stated that Germany’s new photovoltaic installed capacity this year may far exceed the government’s target. According to the association’s report, Germany’s newly installed photovoltaic capacity will reach 13GW this year, while the government’s target is 9GW. VDI said: "Photovoltaic technology is gradually becoming the cornerstone of Germany's electricity supply. The solar industry is optimistic that it will achieve the German government's goal of increasing installed photovoltaic power capacity from about 78GW currently to 215GW by 2030, an increase of almost two times. times." However, VDI renewable energy expert Gerhard Stryi-Hipp warned that the top priority is to further develop Germany's energy market and ensure that the growth in the share of intermittent renewable energy does not reduce Germany's high level of supply security. The association also called for the diversification of solar energy system production countries to reduce "dependence" on China and strengthen international competition. The association said: "Germany still has a high level of expertise in solar energy and production technology, which makes it possible to rebuild photovoltaic production capacity and participate in the strong growth of the photovoltaic market. Germany plans to use solar photovoltaic power generation as one of its core energy sources, with the goal of By 2030, the proportion of renewable energy in electricity will be increased to 80%.”
