China's largest single photovoltaic base in coal mining subsidence area connected to the grid for power generation Nov 07, 2024
The Mengxi Blue Ocean Photovoltaic Power Station is located in Shanghaimiao Town, Otog Front Banner, Ordos City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, with a total investment of about 12 billion yuan. It is the second batch of "Shagohuang" large-scale new energy power generation base projects in the country, and is also a key supporting project of the ±800 kV UHV DC transmission project from Shanghaimiao, Ordos, Inner Mongolia to Linyi, Shandong Province, under the national "West-to-East Power Transmission and Western Development" project. The project covers an area of about 105,000 mu, equivalent to 10,000 standard football fields, with more than 5.9 million solar panels laid and an installed capacity of 3 million kilowatts. Shandong Electric Power Construction is responsible for the PC general contracting of the fifth and sixth sections of the project, including 4 220kV booster stations and the 500kV interval expansion project of the State Power Shanghaimiao Power Plant (an important control project of this project). The busbar of the 500kV interval expansion project was successfully connected on September 26, 2024, and the 220kV booster station was completed on October 31, 2024. After the power station is connected to the grid, it is expected to generate 5.7 billion kWh of electricity annually, sending green electricity across thousands of miles to Shandong for consumption, which can meet the annual electricity needs of 2 million households and provide a strong green energy guarantee for the economic and social development of the eastern coastal areas. According to the standard coal consumption of thermal power, the project can save 1.71 million tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 4.7 million tons each year, which is equivalent to planting 62,700 hectares of trees, with significant social, environmental and economic benefits.

    Egypt's big order: 2GW PV, 1.1GWh energy storage project Sep 20, 2024
Recently, AMEA Power signed a PPA agreement with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company for two projects to develop the largest solar PV project in Africa and the first utility-scale battery energy storage system.   After successfully developing the 500MW Abydos solar PV project, AMEA Power has been awarded to build two new milestone renewable energy projects in Egypt. The first project is a new 1000MW solar PV power plant in the Benban area of Aswan Governorate, as well as a 600MWh BESS project, which will become the largest BESS project in Africa and has a milestone historical significance. The second project is a 300MWh energy storage battery project, which is an expansion project of the company's existing 500MW Abydos PV power plant. It is currently under construction at Kom On bo, the government of Aswan Governorate, and is expected to be commissioned in October 2024. The project will be the first to use a utility-scale BESS solution in Egypt. The signing of the two projects will consolidate AMEA Power's position as a major player in Egypt's clean energy sector, bringing its total solar PV and wind project size in Egypt to 2GW, and 900MWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS). AMEA Power once again reiterated its commitment to supporting Egypt's clean energy transition and identified Egypt as a strategic market for its future growth.   1GW PV + 200MWh Energy Storage Hybrid Project Signed Recently, Scatec ASA signed a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) denominated in US dollars with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) to carry out a 1 GW solar and 100MW/200MWh battery energy storage hybrid project in Egypt. • "PV+N"! 110MW project phase I connected to the grid Sep 14, 2024
The high temperature heat wave "standby for a long time", the power load of Sichuan power grid has hit a record high many times. In the critical period of peak power supply, the first phase of the Charlie 1.1 million kilowatt "photovoltaic + N" project in Aba County, Aba Prefecture, invested and constructed by Sichuan Energy Investment Co., Ltd. of Three Gorges Group, achieved full capacity grid-connected power generation, providing new power supply for the current power supply. The total installed capacity of the Charlie 1.1 million kilowatt "photovoltaic + N" project is 1.1 million kilowatts, with a total investment of about 4.5 billion yuan. It is built in two phases, of which the first phase has an installed capacity of 250,000 kilowatts. This project is the first million-kilowatt photovoltaic power generation project invested and constructed by the Three Gorges Group in Sichuan Province, and it is also the largest photovoltaic project of the Three Gorges Group that has been connected to the grid for power generation at an altitude of more than 3,500 meters. Aba County, where the project is located, is located at the junction of Sichuan, Gansu and Qinghai provinces. It is the water source conservation area of the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and the Yellow River and the location of the Ruoergai National Wetland Park. After the first phase of the project is put into operation, it is expected to generate about 456 million kWh of electricity annually, save about 137,300 tons of standard coal, and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 377,100 tons. The project construction also actively promotes "pastoral and photovoltaic complementarity", which is of great significance to achieving win-win ecological and economic benefits and promoting high-quality development of local social economy. It will also provide important reference for the development and construction of high-altitude onshore photovoltaic power generation projects.
