Up to 5 hours! A vanadium liquid flow energy storage project in Xinjiang is put into operation!
May 30, 2025On May 28, in Jimusar County, Changji Prefecture, Xinjiang, the Jimusar 200,000 kW/1 million kW-hour all-vanadium liquid flow new energy storage project was connected to the grid for power generation. Among them, the energy storage time of the new energy storage power station reached 5 hours, which is the longest liquid flow new energy storage power station in Xinjiang. It can store up to 1 million kWh of electricity at a time, which can meet the annual electricity demand of 390 households of three.
It is understood that the new liquid flow energy storage power station has the characteristics of fast peak response speed of the power grid. In view of the intermittent and instability of new energy generation, connecting large-scale new energy storage system power stations to the power system to increase the energy storage time will help alleviate the power supply pressure of the power grid during peak hours.
In order to improve the stability of new energy generation, Xinjiang vigorously promotes the construction of new energy storage power stations. As of the end of April, Xinjiang's new energy storage grid-connected installed capacity was 10.52 million kW/34.75 million kWh, an increase of 90.2% from the end of April 2024, and the total installed capacity of new energy storage ranked among the top in the country.
