State Power Investment Corporation: Tibet's 100MW solar-storage project successfully connected to the grid!
Aug 01, 2025Recently, the State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC) Yangbajing 50MW Solar-to-Storage Project in Dangxiong County, Tibet, and the SPIC Dangxiong 50MW Solar-to-Storage Project in Dangxiong County, Tibet (collectively, the "Dangxiong Phase I and II Projects"), for which the Guiyang Institute of Energy Engineering and Research (GIERE) was responsible for the EPC general contracting, were successfully connected to the grid.
It is understood that both projects are major energy projects coordinated and promoted by the Tibet Autonomous Region, ensuring power supply to the region. With a total installed capacity of 100MW, each project will be equipped with a newly constructed 110kV substation and a 110kV transmission line. The transmission line is 4.7 kilometers long and has 16 towers.
The project is located at the foot of the Nyainqentanglha Mountains, with an average altitude of 4,300 meters. Upon completion, it is expected to save approximately 45,000 tons of standard coal annually, reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 109,000 tons, sulfur dioxide emissions by approximately 741.97 tons, and nitrogen oxide emissions by approximately 969.06 tons. These projects are of great significance to optimizing the regional power grid structure and achieving energy conservation and emission reduction goals. According to statistics, Tibet has completed the owner selection process for its 3.82GW renewable energy quota for 2024. State Power Investment Corporation (SPIC) has secured 260MW of new energy projects, including 210MW of photovoltaic projects.
On July 19th, Liu Mingsheng, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of SPIC, visited the Tibet Company.
Liu Mingsheng emphasized that the Tibet Company must thoroughly implement General Secretary Xi Jinping's important expositions on Tibet affairs and the Party's strategy for governing Tibet in the new era, accurately position itself in serving the overall national strategy, and unwaveringly fulfill the responsibilities and mission of a state-owned central enterprise. Based on Tibet's rich resource endowment and development opportunities along the border, the Company must actively expand effective investment, closely focus on clean energy bases and green energy supply from mineral resources, maintain its positive development momentum, and contribute to building a prosperous and stable frontier. Corporate governance must be strengthened, and a management system suitable for high-quality corporate development must be established as soon as possible. Compliance and safety must be upheld, and management standards must be continuously improved.
To date, the Tibet Company manages 678,000 kilowatts of installed capacity, with over 1 million kilowatts of installed capacity in operation, under construction, and planned.
